We sent a Father's Day package down to Florida planning that it would be there for my Dad to open upon his return home from the hospital. A kind of "Happy Father's Day / Welcome Home" kit. In it was a golf shirt, a couple of sleeves of Titleists, a framed picture of Mom and Dad with Jake at Jake's Bar Mitzvah, a copy of the George Steinbrenner book, and a card with the following note from me - Dad never made it home - he never got to open the box - I read him the note at his memorial service:
Dear Dad,
Thanks for showing me how to be the best husband and father a man can be.
I’ve been following your lead for years and could not have asked for a better role model.
